This is a story about two people who were alone for many years, who care about and respect all life, who met and fell in love. The welfare and safety of both animals and humans as we coexist on this planet is what drives us to continue to expose, discuss, quantify, analyze, and try to find solutions to the global and local issues leading to animal/human conflict.
Merritt did not work his way into journalism and through university decades ago to enjoy a safe, secure, lucrative career promoting the status quo. Coming of age in Berkeley at a time when social change was transforming our country and coming on like a firestorm, Merritt was committed and driven to make a positive contribution to the world.
Along the way critics from all sides of the issues and political spectrum tried to silence Merritt’s independent perspective. He found his voice and found a concerned, caring, thinking audience nonetheless.
Merritt and I were married on August 15, 2014. My first impressions of Merritt were very positive. He was extremely intelligent, genuine and sincere. And yes, very handsome!
I had been a police officer, a teacher, a veterinary technician, and an animal control officer. Our lives and skill sets were so different, and yet it was clear that there were many parallels in our life histories and personal passions, and that they complimented each other.
We shared our deep commitments to animal welfare and public safety and we were drawn to each other.
Two and a half years later, it’s rare to see us apart. We work very hard side by side, every day, seven days a week to deliver in-depth, independently researched and thoughtful news and information to you, our discerning readers. We don’t “dumb it down” as we’ve seen many online websites do.
Merritt is often contacted by animal advocates when they urgently need help to amplify their campaigns, by rescuers to make a connection to save animals’ lives, and by mainstream media when they need information on deadline. Merritt has long been counted on in such situations and delivers every time with no fanfare or accolades, and has been working hard this way for many years.
Please donate to ANIMALS 24-7 so that we can continue to do the important work that Merritt began doing full-time in November of 1986 and has been doing for us and the animals ever since. During these 30 years Merritt has written more than 9,000 articles to expose the good, the bad and the ugly within the humane cause.
The bad guys are afraid of Merritt Clifton. The good guys appreciate his tireless hard work. We hope that this is important to you. It certainly has been for all of the animals and people that he has helped along the way.
Your donation to ANIMALS 24-7 will ensure that we can keep investigating, reporting, and publishing the news about animals that no one else could or would report.
Without your help, the bad guys will not be held accountable, and the animals won’t have an unsung hero, my husband Merritt, watching over them and reporting to you. I love my husband, yes, & so should you!
Warmly,
P.S. – Please donate today! We need your help!
Merritt, you are one damn fortunate fellow! Please give Beth a big hug for me.
Martin
Wonderful to see your marriage being such an outstanding success and striving for saving and increasing good treatment of Life on Earth! Good meeting you both this summer in LA at the conference and hearing about your experience in the Orient.
