Coca-Cola, the Catholic Church, the NRA and leading state and national political figures are among those listed by Showing Animals Respect & Kindness on the SHARK “10 Worst U.S. Animal Abusers of 2014” list.
10 Worst U.S. Animal Abusers of 2014, according to SHARK
#1 – U.S. Sen. James Inhofe (OK). The Senator held a pigeon shoot fundraiser for himself in 2014, killing hundreds of helpless pigeons. As the birds were being gunned down, contributors to his campaign celebrated with alcohol beverages while being serenaded by a mariachi band playing, all the with pigeons being slaughtered and injured. The shoot violated not only animal cruelty laws, but other regulations. (ANIMALS 24-7 reported about this case in “Pigeon-shooters, dog-eaters, James Inhofe & the NRA,” http://wp.me/p4pKmM-Sb, and in “SHARK catches U.S. Senator James ‘Global warming is a hoax’ Inhofe on video hosting a pigeon-blasting fundraiser,” http://wp.me/p4pKmM-JA.)
#2 – Pennsylvania State House Majority Leader Rep. Mike Turzai. He blocked a vote in the House on a bill to end pigeon shoots, despite the Senate passing the bill overwhelmingly and a public poll showing about an 80 percent approval rate for a ban. Turzai accepted $3,000 from the pigeon shoot lobby three days before his stopped the ban vote. (ANIMALS 24-7 reported about this case in “PA House majority leader Turzai took $3,000 from pigeon shooters, killed vote on pigeon shooting, but will not be investigated for alleged ethics violations,” http://wp.me/p4pKmM-Vu.)
#3 – The National Rifle Association. For its longstanding support of pigeon shoots. The NRA is in SHARK’s opinion cowardly in its continued defense of indefensible and illegal cruelty.
#4 – Pennsylvania humane organizations. They have failed to do what needs to be done to end cruel pigeon shoots. They do not document pigeon shoots, rescue the animal victims of pigeon shoots, bring charges against pigeon shooters, or do anything else required to end some of the worst cruelty and corruption in the country despite bringing in millions of dollars. (ANIMALS 24-7 has reported about this in “SHARK lists “Pennsylvania humane organizations” on list of “10 worst animal abusers of 2014,” http://wp.me/p4pKmM-13t.)

#5 – Elected Officials of Bensalem, PA. The township has turned a blind eye to cruelty. The township has known for years that members of the Philadelphia Gun Club (PGC) regularly break PA animal cruelty, and other laws. The township’s own legal counsel advised the officials that the PGC was violating those laws.
#6 – Adolph Antanavage. The Pennsylvania judge, attorney, state police legal counsel and pigeon shooter was caught on video shooting pigeons in front of a Confederate flag. Despite this, and breaking state animal cruelty laws, he was chosen to be a county judge by then-PA Gov. Tom Corbett in 2014. (ANIMALS 24-7 reported about this case in “Echoes of the Old South in pigeon-shooting lawyer’s promotion to judge,” http://wp.me/p4pKmM-B5.)
#7 – Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club. Fake hunters plunk down cash or a card and can blast away at cage-raised animals for closet psychopaths who like to kill to feel alive. The Club even has “Phigeon shoots,” where they bizarrely and cruelly impale pheasant feathers in pigeons and then “hunt” them.
#8 – The Catholic Church. Specifically, the Green Bay Diocese and the Milwaukee Arch Diocese, which have for decades allowed the St. Patrick’s Parish in Stephensville, WI to hold a fundraising event in which pigs are brutalized to make money. A cesspool of corruption where the local DA and sheriff won’t enforce animal cruelty and child endangerment violations.
#9 – Coca Cola. It sponsors rodeos all over the U.S. Coke used to sponsor bullfights and cockfights until consumers complained. Coke will stop sponsoring rodeos one day when enough consumers complain.
#10 – The ‘All-American’ Rodeo. A rodeo is just a circus with cowboy hats. Rodeos are shameful, and while rodeo proponents claim to be patriots, there is nothing patriotic about animal abuse. In Wauconda, IL, officials and police harassed a lawyer who posted a sign on his office opposing rodeos. In Cheyenne, WY, the rodeo not only brutalizes, injures and kills animals, but staff also allegedly assaults people who expose cruelty. At the Salinas (CA) rodeo, SHARK has charged in a current lawsuit, the rodeo significantly under-reports the animals injured and maimed. In Reno, the rodeo denied shocking animals, but was caught in the act.

Thank you for posting the Ducks Unlimited poster advertising this bizarre and abusive event. I have had more than one person claim to me that DU isn’t a hunting group, but rather just a “conservation” group. Please.
