Blue Cross of India honored for work on nonviolence & vegetarianism

July 28, 2014 By Merritt Clifton

Bhagavan Mahavir Award for Non-Violence and Vegetarianism

I am delighted to tell you all that Shri Sugal Chan Jain of the Bhagavan Mahavir Foundation has informed us that the Blue Cross of India has been chosen for this year’s Bhagavan Mahavir Award for Non-Violence and Vegetarianism. We are thrilled at this very special award from a very special foundation.  For those who do not know, this group has been mentored by Shri Sugal Chandji who believes in “giving till it hurts”! Every year, the 1st of January, sees some forty NGOs receiving several million rupees from the hands of Shri Sugal Chandji’s family members.

The award is special in itself but it also  carries a cash component of Rs.1,000,000! The selection committee has been chaired for many years by retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice Venkatachelliah.

A fitting recognition for us on our 50th anniversary.
