SINGAPORE––VeganBurg, a vegan fast food chain already operating five restaurants in Singapore, expects to open a branch in Los Angeles in October 2014, marketing and communications manager Katrina Hossen recently told the Straits Times.
Husband-and-wife duo Alex Tan and Tracy Lim founded VeganBurg in October 2010, without previous food industry experience, but after a year of marketing research and planning. They had become vegan in 1997.
Celebrity customers have included musicians Paul McCartney and Chrissie Hynde.
[Update: the planned VeganBurg restaurant in Los Angeles actually opened at 1466 Haight Street in San Francisco in 2015, and has reportedly been a huge success.]
