Lou Terrell, 75, was killed trying to rescue dog

Lou Terrell,  75,  was killed by an Amtrak train in Del Mar,  California,  on January 3,  2014 while trying to chase his dog off the tracks.

Terrell was formerly mayor of Del Mar,  chair of the San Diego State University political science department,  founder of the Del Mar Foundation,  and president of Planned Parenthood of San Diego & Riverside Counties.  Terrell also held leadership positions with the American Civil Liberties Union and Leadership for Change.
