Sanctuary founder Alexandra Bastedo, 67

                  Alexandra Bastedo,  67,  died on January 12,  2014.

A screen actress in both British and Spanish productions from 1963 to 2005,  Bastedo circa 1983 founded the Alexandra Bastedo Champions Animal Sanctuary near Chichester,  West Sussex,  U.K.  She relocated the sanctuary to more spacious premises at West Chiltington in 2000.

She published an autobiography,  Beware Dobermanns, Donkeys and Ducks,  in 1993.

The ABC sanctuary survives Bastedo,  with three surviving trustees,  60 volunteers,  and an active fundraising program.
